Jan 25, 2010,
Delivered a check to Greg Nelson, principal of North St. Paul High School for $281.00 to help with the Choir Trip for the students "at need".  emails will be posted here as I receive them.
Greg asked me to thank everyone that donated.  Because of us, students that could not go will have a better chance to go on the Choir trip.  This is an ongoing fund so if you haven't donated and wish too the account is still open.  We still have some time to make another check for the Choir Trip if we get more donations.  Our balance in the account is now $10.00.

Let me know what you think and what your ideas are.  Call me or drop me an email.  We should proceed as soon as possible in case a trip is coming up pretty soon.  If you have any ideas on how to make this work better, faster, or easier, let me know.

Subject: RE: need

There are 8 students who will have great difficulty coming up with the $650 they need for a spring break trip to Nashville.  The trip takes place in March but must be paid for in February.  The students are basically on tour performing several times throughout the week with sightseeing and fun mixed in.  This is definitely an "extra" and not a life or death need.  But our Show Choir absolutely makes the high school experience successful for many of its members.  It's awkward for some to be talented enough to make the choir [on a tryout basis] but then to not be able to afford the opportunity.  Yes - the district should fund all programs.  But they don't - fees have been more and more part of the landscape for high school extras.  Our football players must pay a fee of $225 per season for instance.  There is GREAT need in this area but I have zeroed in on 8 particular students in one situation.
